I've been working as a photojournalist since 2010. After graduating from Ohio University's Visual Communications program I completed internships at The Bakersfield Californian, The Peoria Journal Star and The Toledo Blade before settling down in Detroit. I'm available for editorial assignments and portraiture in Detroit and elsewhere.
I think a good documentary photo does one of three things. It makes the viewer think, know or feel. As a photographer I set out to take my audience to places they haven't been and show them what it's like to be there. Hopefully my work can make them think more deeply about important issues. I believe good journalism is more important than ever in this age of superficial cable news coverage and internet click bait.
Outside of photography I enjoy cooking, backpacking and reading philosophy.
